Probably the biggest maritime Marseille poet-painter of the twentieth century unknown in his home, better known to the antipodes. Louis Brauquier,
Born in Marseille in 1900, Louis Brauquier friend of Gabriel Audisio, Henri Bosco, Joseph D'Arbaud was a Provencal artist, a poet, painter, talented writer, photographer, navigator. He crossed the twentieth century as he traveled the world as an Officer of the Compagnie des Messageries Maritimes: Nouméa, Sydney, Diego Suarez, Alexandria, Colombo humanist ... This was considered by félibres as the hope of Provencal literature. He won the prize Catullus Mendes to 23 years, the price of Provence Ventabren in 1962, the Grand Prix of the French Academy of Poetry in 1971. In 1953, Brauquier became interested in painting and realized about 80 tables. In Provence, he lived in Marseille and Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts until his death in 1976.
